Monterey Hog Contract Growing

What is a Hog Contract Growing? It is a partnership of the Piggery business owner and a Company where their main goal is to raise the pigs until they reach a certain market size.

The
responsibility of the Piggery owner is to provide agricultural land, pig buildings, electricity and water supply, manpower, security, and permits.

The Company on the other hand is in charge of supplying hybrid pigs, quality feeds, medicines and vaccines, veterinary services, delivery and hauling services, ready market for all hogs, and competitive payment scheme.

What is Monterey? Monterey or Monterey Foods Corporation is a company owned by San Miguel Corporation and the Philippines largest when it comes to Hog operations.
Here are additional details:

Monterey Foods Corporation – nearly four decades of productive existence … renowned and trusted producer of superior quality meats products that abides by the international standards of food safety (HACCP) and Quality Management System (ISO).

From our humble beginnings of having a cattle ranch business in Cauayan, Isabela in 1969, until our inclusion to the list of subsidiaries of San Miguel Corporation in 1986, up to the acquisition of Purefoods Corporation in 2001, Monterey has become the largest hog breeding, hog growing and cattle fattening operations in country today.

For exactly 39 years now, we have more than 370 farms all over the Philippines – owned and contracted, 46 of which are hog breeding farms, 29 offsite nursery stations and more than 294 growing facilities. Our original cattle breeding farm still exists in Isabela, with feedlots in Bulacan, Laguna, and South Cotabato.

Monterey is dynamically performing 100% artificial insemination to the swine breeding herd, with a separate, strategically-located nursery and growing facilities, technically, a three-site operation system resulting to a manageable herd health status of our animals.

State-of-the-art facility such as the climate-controlled housing system is as well employed to improve our efficiency by promoting the growth of our hogs, thus having shorter days to market.

We purchase biologicals, supplements, diagnostics kits and chemotherapeutics only from reliable manufacturers and suppliers to consistently ensure product quality and safety of our hogs, employees and customers.

Having more than370 contract partners nationwide, Monterey has been very successful in maintaining the quality standard and system through our experienced technical personnel trusted to handle the macro and micro operations of the company.

We have a list of experts in the field in swine and cattle breeding, nutrition, health and diagnostics, husbandry, research and recording system.

Their attendance to various local, national and international hog trainings and conventions made them equally competitive, therefore making Monterey the first and leading swine integrator in the Philippines.

Our official agreement with our business partners had undergone revisions through the years, refined and polished making it legally and morally accepted, thereby producing countless advantage, contentment and satisfaction for both of us!

Monterey aims to become a 20,000 sow level operations in 2010. Expansions are continuous in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. While recruitment of additional contract partners is on going… This means more business, more jobs and more meat for every deserving Filipino.

DO YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR OWN FARM?

I have a farm in Balayan Batangas ( 2 hour drive from Manila). It has a capacity of 300 pigs. Interested? Read through my Q & A.

Why are you selling it?
I want to give more attention to my family needs and give more time to my business in Manila. My Piggery business is doing good (Monterey has been with me since 2004). I just choose to shift my attention to Manila.

What kind of buyers am I looking for?
Anybody that has the capability to operate a Piggery. Someone that has deep interest in the business and is willing to devote his/her time.

How much?
Php 1.5 million. Price is negotiable. A 1.3 hectares of land, buildings that can accommodate 300 heads, and existing partnership with Monterey Foods Corp.

I am interested but have limited funds?
We can work out a system that can benefit the 3 parties (You, Me, & Monterey). Rent to own is an option. Lease is another option. I am open to any suggestions/negotiations. Let's talk.

Is there any room for expansion?
Yes, you can still add 700 pigs as long as you construct additional buildings. You can have a farm that has a population of 1000 pigs. More profits for you.

What more can i get from this?
I have existing Mahogany trees in the said property. You can add this to your revenue by planting more trees (Mahogany & Gmelina). You can plant crops like banana and kamote.
Quarrying black sand, making fertilizer from pig waste and worms (vermicompost), etc.
